T. Gaylon Layfield, III, president and CEO of Xenith Bankshares Inc., has been named chairman-elect of the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA). He is slated to become the association’s chairman in 2015.
He began his career at Signet Bank in 1975. From 1996 to 1997, he served as president and chief operating officer of Signet Banking Corp. and Signet Bank. Layfield has been CEO and president of Xenith Bankshares since 2009.
He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in business administration from the Darden School of Business at U.Va.
