The Vintner Group Inc., a Richmond-based wine distributor and importer, plans to merge with Winebow Inc., based in New York, to create The Winebow Group LLC.
The combined company will offer a distribution network that includes 14 states and Washington, D.C.
David Townsend, who led The Vintner Group through its recent years of growth, will lead The Winebow Group as president and CEO.
“We are thrilled to build upon our shared, long-term focus on family-owned, estate wineries and our knowledge-based, service-oriented sales culture,” Townsend said in a statement.
Both Vintner Group and Winebow were founded in 1980. Vintner Group was originally known as The Country Vintner.
