The Miller Group has broken ground in Virginia Beach on Prufrex’s first U.S. manufacturing facility. Prufrex USA Inc. is a privately owned German
manufacturer of digital ignition and electronic control systems, headquartered in Cadolzburg, Germany.

The company also is a long-term supplier to Stihl Inc., which has a facility at the beach that manufactures gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in the U.S.

Prufrex said in a press release that its new facility will supply ignition components to Stihl and other U.S.customers.

The Miller Group, a Virginia Beach based real estate development, construction and property management company, is the force behind the build-to-suit project. The transaction included site selection and development, construction and lease/management of the facility. The new building, located on two acres in Virginia Beach off London Bridge Road, is scheduled for completion by September .

This is the Miller Group’s second turn-key project with a European manufacturer. In 2013, the Miller Group completed a 112,000-square-foot industrial facility on 7.2 acres for German manufacturer IMS: Gear. The company makes assemblies for automatic automotive seats and had outgrown another 34,000-square-foot building in Virginia Beach.
