The medical transportation company American Medical Response has opened an office in Hampton.
The Hampton operation, which began service on April 23, now has 56 full-time and part-time employees.
The company plans to hire at least 50 more workers by the end of June.
American Medical Response invested nearly $500,000 to open the location at 5000 Incubator Road.
Erin Corrie of the commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle represented the company.
American Medical Response offers basic life-support, advanced life-support ambulance service, and bariatric ambulance services.
Planned future services include wheelchair van service and air-based emergency medical transportation.
Founded in 1992, American Medical Response offers services in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
The company employs more than 18,000 people, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other professionals.
The company serves more than 3 million patients nationwide each year in critical, emergency and nonemergency situations.
