The Cape Charles Yacht Center is officially opening on Friday in Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore. The project is expected to create 80 to 100 jobs during the next three years.
The center is designed to accommodate megayachts or superyachts, which are defined as yachts that measure more than 79 feet.
The Eastern Shore Land (ESLAND) Co. said in a news release that the center is the first superyacht center on the Chesapeake Bay. ESLAND is a real estate development partnership based in Cape Charles.
The center includes a 40-acre harbor district, an 80-acre industrial park, marina, a 120-acre maintenance and storage area and a fuel station.
Additional development is being pursued in the harbor and the industrial park zones, ESLAND said.
