Henrico County-based ASGN Inc. has promoted Rand Blazer, president of Glen Allen-based ASGN subsidiary Apex Systems LLC, to president of ASGN. At the same time, ASGN promoted three other executives as presidents of its subsidiaries, the Fortune 1000 provider of IT and professional staffing services announced Monday.
A former U.S. Army Captain, Blazer joined Apex in 2007 after spending nearly 30 years with KPMG US LLC. He helped grow the ASGN subsidiary into a firm with roughly 2,640 employees across Virginia.
Sean Casey will take Blazer’s spot as president of Apex Systems, a promotion from his role as Apex’s chief operating officer. Casey, who has been in the consulting/staffing industry for more than 25 years, was the ninth employee at Apex and began as an account manager.
Additionally, John Heneghan was promoted to president of ECS Federal LLC, ASGN’s Fairfax-based federal contracting subsidiary. He replaces George Wilson, who retired this month but is serving as an executive adviser during the leadership transition. Heneghan joined ECS in 2017 as vice president of enterprise solutions and was promoted to senior vice president in 2019 and COO in 2021.
ASGN also announced that it was promoting Matt Riley to president of Los Angeles-based Creative Circle LLC, a recruiting and consulting services company.
“These are exciting times at ASGN, and the promotions of Rand, John, Sean and Matt are all very well deserved,” ASGN CEO Ted Hanson said in a statement. “I have full confidence that their transitions into these new roles will be seamless and that our company will not miss a beat. At the same time, on behalf of the board of directors and our entire executive management team, I would like to thank George for his incredible service and contributions to our company since ASGN acquired ECS in 2018. George will certainly be missed, but he leaves a fully capable team under John’s leadership primed for continued success as we embark upon the new calendar year.”
In October 2020, ASGN relocated to Henrico County from Calabasas, California.
ASGN also announced approval from its board of directors for a new stock repurchase program. The company may repurchase up to $350 million of its common stock through December 2023.
ASGN reported $3.9 billion in revenue for 2020 and $1.1 billion in revenues for the the third quarter of 2021, up 18.7% over the third quarter of 2020.
