As the famous tourism slogan goes, “Virginia is for Lovers,” but now it may be for millennials too.

Eight Virginia cities have been identified by a recent USA Today article as “millennial magnets.” The newspaper used recent U.S. Census data to identify 289 cities that have more people in their 20s than in their teens.

Arlington was on top of that list with 344 residents that were 20-29 years old per 100 teens. Other cities in the commonwealth on the list (in order of most 20-somethings) were Alexandria, Norfolk, Richmond, Newport News, Hampton, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake .

“These places seem to be built for people, not for automobiles,” University of Nevada-Las Vegas demographer Robert Lang said in the article. “And the 20-somethings love the people, not the automobile.”
