Fairfax-based management consulting firm ICF International Inc. has acquired Rockville, Maryland-based data management and health care information technology provider ESAC Inc., or Enterprise Science and Computing, the company announced Tuesday.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, ESAC’s 40-person team works on data coordination centers, big data integration and visualization, algorithm development and other technology services.

“ESAC is an excellent strategic and cultural fit for ICF,” ICF Chair and CEO John Wasson said in a statement. “Perhaps most important is our strong cultural alignment. ESAC takes an outcomes-based approach, fueled by specialized capabilities and an unwavering passion to positively impact the world, just like ICF.”

ESAC has increased the availability and functionality of health data at the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies, as well as helping them implement new electronic clinical quality measurement standards.

“Federal health agencies are under increased pressure to better address the surge in health data and data complexity, stronger mandates for standards adoption, the need for better information sharing and interoperability and more,” ESAC President Anand Basu said in a statement. “Pairing ICF’s longstanding health and social program services with our complex health technology solutions…will offer federal health agencies the interdisciplinary partners they need to improve health outcomes.”
