Four Virginia companies make Build 100 list

Four Virginia companies have been named to Inc. magazine’s Build 100, a list of midsize companies that have shown sustained workforce growth.

The list includes companies with 85 to 999 employees that have increased their headcount every year from 2007 to 2012. The companies are listed alphabetically and are unranked.

The companies selected by Inc. have agreed to work with the magazine on a long-term project aimed at understanding the factors involved in sustained growth.

The four Virginia firms are Knight Point Systems, Tenacity Solutions, 3Pillar Global and Valkyrie Enterprises.

Reston-based Knight Point Systems had revenue of $43.7 million in 2012 and a growth rate of 265 percent from 2009 through 2012.  Founded in 2006, the IT services firm had 124 employees in 2013.

Tenacity Solutions, another IT services firm in eston, had 129 employees last year.. The company, founded in 2003, had 2012 revenue of $32.5 million and a three-year growth rate of 53 percent.

Fairfax-based 3Pillar Global, a software development company, has increased its headcount from seven employees in the U.S. in 2007 to 615 employees in four countries in 2013. The company posted revenue of $26 million last year. It had a 359 percent growth rate in 2009-12.

Valkyrie Enterprises, a government services contractor based in Virginia Beach, had 201 employees last year. Founded in 2007, it had a growth rate of 155 percent in 2009-12. Its 2012 revenue was $23.4 million.

Two of the companies, Knight Point Systems and Valkyrie Enterprises, were named to this year’s Best Places to Work in Virginia by Virginia Business.

Knight Point led the small company category (fewer than 100 employees) for two consecutive years before moving up to the midsize company category (100 to 249 employees) in 20014 where it also ranked No. 1

Valkyrie Enterprises is one of 15 companies that has made the Best Places list each year since it began four years ago.
