W. M. Jordan Co., a Newport News based commercial construction and development company, is opening a Roanoke office.

The office, at Valley Pointe Office Park at the intersection of interstates I-81 and I-581, will serve as the company's base of operations in western Virginia.

Paul A. Galloway has joined the company to manage the office.  He has more than 51 years of experience in the construction and real estate development industry.  Since 2006, Galloway has provided construction consulting services to other developers and building owners.

In addition to hiring Galloway, the company is relocating some personnel from its Richmond and Newport News offices to Roanoke and hiring additional employees in the region.

“It’s a great combination that allows us to more fully engage with both our clients and the local subcontractors to build the relationships that help each project succeed,” John Lawson, the president of W. M. Jordan, said in a statement.

The company’s  projects in the region include the $26 million Western Forensics Laboratory expansion, $40 million Center for the Sciences at Radford University and a $30 million academic building at Virginia Tech.

In the spring work will begin on two 83-bed assisted living facilities for Smith/Packett, The Crossings at Blacksburg and The Crossings at Abington, in addition to renovations at The Glebe for Virginia Baptist Homes.

The 56-year old W. M. Jordan Co. provides construction management, design build, development, virtual construction, sustainability and contracting services to a diverse clientele in Virginia and North Carolina.  Customers represent health systems, senior living communities, colleges and universities, public school systems, places of worship, corporations large and small, developers, and municipal, state, and federal government.
