The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Reston-based Fortune 500 government contractor Leidos Holdings Inc. a $64 million contract to develop the Operational Analysis and Reporting System (OARS), a safety analysis tool.

OARS will support the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Safety Management System though defining, identifying, assessing, treating and tracking safety risk mitigation. Leidos will enhance safety services using cloud adoption framework, SecDevOps and contiguous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.

“Leidos is proud to work with the FAA to modernize their safety systems,” Fran Hill, senior vice president of Leidos Transportation Solutions, said in a statement. “By leveraging our team’s vast safety knowledge, cloud modernization experience and innovative technologies, the FAA will accelerate their vision for the future.”

Leidos has won several FAA contracts this year, including a 10-year contract potentially worth $1.76 billion to continue implementing National Airspace System modernization programs for the agency.

With annual revenues of $11.09 billion last year and 37,000 employees, Leidos specializes in technology and engineering services for defense agencies.
