The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced Monday it has elected Hampton University’s vice president for development and campaign director, Felicia Blow, as chair of its board for 2022. She will serve as chair-elect during 2021.

The PRSA is a professional organization with more than 21,000 members who work in the public relations and communications fields. 

With 28 years of experience, Blow has worked in fields including manufacturing, waste management, environmental services, telecommunications and higher education. She previously served as director of public affairs for Cox Communications, where she started the Cox Charities Virginia program, which fundraises for Virginia nonprofits. 

Blow has also served as senior counsel to the PRSA board and as a director representing the mid-Atlantic district. In 2000, she became the first African American female president of the Hampton Roads PRSA Chapter.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and her master’s degree in business administration from Strayer University. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration at Old Dominion University.
