General Dynamics IT lands $4.4B GSA contract

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Department of Defense announced Friday they have re-awarded the approximate $4.4 billion, 10-year Defense Enterprise Office Solutions (DEOS) contract to CSRA Inc., which is now a part of Falls Church-based General Dynamics Information Technology Inc. (CSRA became a part of GDIT in 2018.)

Under the DEOS contract, GDIT will provide productivity tools, including word processing and spreadsheets, email, collaboration, file sharing and storage, according to a statement from the GSA. 

“GDIT stands ready to execute this critical work which will provide enterprise-wide visibility and collaboration capabilities across the Department of Defense,” GDIT President Amy Gilliland said in a statement. “The need for DEOS capabilities have been further amplified by the COVID-19 crisis, which has forced agencies to leverage other short-term solutions to support their remote workforces. More than ever, it’s imperative that we accelerate the deployment of technology to support our mission partners.”

The DOD chief information officer and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) have worked with the GSA to reduce duplicative efforts across the DOD in order to reduce costs and simplify contract administration.

“DEOS is a key part of the Department’s Digital Modernization Strategy and its fit-for-purpose cloud offering will streamline our use of cloud email and collaborative tools while enhancing cybersecurity and information sharing based on standardized needs and market offerings,” DoD CIO Dana Deasy said in a statement. “With the award of DEOS, the department will be able to transfer a significant part of the ongoing technical and management load to the integrator and free up strained resources to execute other priority missions.”

The contract has a five-year base period and two two-year options and one one-year option, according to the GSA. The contractor teaming partners include Dell Marketing LP and Minburn Technology Group LLC.

GDIT is a subsidiary company of Reston-based General Dynamics Corp., a Fortune 500 aerospace and defense contractor with products in business aviation, combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions, IT services, C4ISR solutions and shipbuilding and ship repair. The company employs 100,000 people worldwide and reported $39.4 billion in revenue last year.
