Charlottesville-based Sigora Solar announced Wednesday it has acquired Rancho Cordova, California-based Aztec Solar.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Through the strategic acquisition of Aztec Solar, Sigora is realizing our goal to be a national leader in energy,” Sigora Solar CEO Logan Landry said in a statement. “We at Sigora are driven by a desire to empower our customers through technology, including solar, energy efficiency, and battery storage. We are constantly looking for opportunities like this one, which we see as a major win for Aztec Solar, Sigora, and all of our current and future customers.”

As a result of the acquisition, Sigora Solar will operate in 14 states. Formed 40 years ago, Aztec solar was one of the first solar power companies in the Sacramento, California, area, according to a company statement.

“Our partnership with Sigora is an incredible opportunity for Aztec Solar to expand its reach while continuing to provide our over 14,000 customers with quality service,” Aztec Solar founder Ed Murray, California Solar and Storage Association president, said in a statement. “Sigora’s experience and resources as a national brand will only help us build on that legacy.”

More details about the acquisition will later be released, according to a joint company statement.
