Fairfax tech firm to develop immigration identify verification platform

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has awarded Fairfax-based tech company Sevatec Inc. a $22.5 million task order to develop a modern authentication and identity proofing platform for mission delivery, the company announced Thursday.

Under the Unrestricted GSA Alliant 2 task order, Sevatec will support mission delivery through a single platform that will provide secure access to digital immigration benefit services. 

“We are excited about helping solve some of USCIS’ most important challenges,” Sevatec founder and CEO Sonny Kakar said in a statement. “We are grateful for their continued confidence in our ability to deliver digital modernization solutions that advance their mission. Our experience in DevSecOps, infrastructure as code and a mindset and practice of automating everything possible through code has resulted in measurable value for our federal customers.”

Sevatec will use DevSecOps delivery, mobile development, open source technologies and agile project management practices to complete the task order.

“To say this win was tough is an understatement,” Sevatec Chief Growth Officer Tim May said in a statement. “It was more than seven months in the making, against fierce competition with code submissions and a full-day technical challenge. We look forward to delivering this important work.” 

Founded in 2003, Sevatec provides mission-critical technology and consulting services to the national security sector, including Homeland Security and law enforcement agencies, the Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, Department of State and several civilian departments and agencies.
