Chef Jason Alley is opening another Pasture restaurant, this time in Charlottesville, two years after rolling out his first Pasture restaurant in downtown Richmond.
The second Pasture will open at The Shops at Stonefield on Sept. 16. Pasture specializes in Southern cuisine that uses fresh and local ingredients.
“We are so excited to bring our second location of Pasture to the Charlottesville area. Charlottesville's appreciation of local food and beverages, combined with the abundant producers and farmers in the area, provides an ideal setting for us,” Alley, the chef and owner, said in a statement.
Alley decided to come to Charlottesville after being approached by the developer, Edens, and its director of culinary strategy.
Pasture will feature a menu of small plates of Southern classics, using local products from some of Virginia farmers and producers including local ham, Virginia cheeses, fresh fish and shell fish, and meat and vegetables. It will offer 16 artisan beers on tap and wines will be local, organic and biodynamic, with low-impact packaging, resulting in fewer bottles to recycle.
The 3,500-square-foot restaurant will be able to seat 60 people inside and will have a large patio with additional seating for 40 people.
