QED Systems Inc. and Gibbs & Cox will provide support for assault craft, subs and ships

Two Virginia-based companies were awarded parts of a $165.1 million contract to provide program management and technical services for the U.S. Army and Navy’s assault craft, submarines and surface ships. A total of five companies will work on the contract.
Virginia Beach-based QED Systems Inc. was awarded $30.4 million and Arlington-based Gibbs & Cox was awarded $33.5 million.
Contract work includes logistics and operational services for equipment and subsystems including electrical components installed on to military vessels, according to the Department of Defense. The companies will also perform testing and refurbishment, fleet support and contractor services.

According to the Department of Defense, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division received 10 bids for the contract. The majority of the contract work will be carried out at contractor facilities and the remaining 14% will be performed in Philadelphia through July 2026.
Founded in 1969, QED is an engineering and technical services company that works with both government and commercial clients. The company employs more than 500 people. Engineering and design firm Gibbs & Cox was founded in 1929 and specializes in naval architecture, marine engineering, management support and engineering consulting.
