The U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) awarded a $55 million contract to Fredericksburg-based engineering and technology contractor SimVentions Inc. to provide systems engineering and software development services, the company announced Friday.

Under the five-year contract, SimVentions will work on the Track Management Engineering Analysis and Support system out of the NSWCDD. The system offers identification, tracking and characterization of sensor data for combat, command and control systems. SimVentions will provide systems engineering, software development and test and evaluation services on the Track Management product.

“SimVentions has been involved in the Track Management domain for many years, however, this is the first time that we will be providing this level of support as a prime contractor,” SimVentions CEO Larry Root said in a statement. “We are honored that NSWCDD is willing to put their trust in us for this critical work.”

SimVentions provides engineering and technology services to Department of Defense organizations including the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force and Marine Corps. The company has been listed seven times as Best Place to Work by Virginia Business and employs more than 260 people.
