The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) launched a new initiative Tuesday to alleviate the impact of defense spending cuts on Virginia’s economy.
The ‘Going Global’ initiative will use nearly $2 million it received in federal and state funding to help Virginia’s defense companies negatively affected by sequestration, the across-the-board, automatic federal budget cuts that went into effect in March. The initiative will promote international sales for Virginia’s defense companies by providing market research, international certification standards and export training, among other support.
More information on the program is available at www.exportvirginia.org.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership is a state authority that promotes economic expansion in the commonwealth.
