Zoup! is coming to Virginia with a fresh soup restaurant in Henrico County. Franchisees Jeff and Betsy Lee have signed a lease in the Parkside Marketplace at 10835 W. Broad Street. The restaurant is scheduled to open by late 2013.

The company said in a press release that Virginia is part of its overall expansion strategy. The casual soup concept restaurant, based out of Southfield, Mich., has more than 50 restaurants in 11 states and provinces.

“We are excited to bring the Zoup! brand and culture to Glen Allen,” Jeff Lee said in a statement.

Zoup! features hundreds of soup recipes with 12 rotating daily varieties, including low-fat, low-calorie, vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free options bread.  The menu also features made-to-order salads and sandwiches.

Zoup! has grown its network of franchises to 52 restaurants throughout the District of Columbia, Colorado, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada.
