AT&T invests nearly $175 million in Virginia in first half of 2013

AT&T announced Thursday it had invested nearly $175 million in its wireless and wireline networks in Virginia in the first half of 2013. 


The investments included deployment of new macro cell sites, small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems across the state.  The company also expanded and enhanced its 4G LTE, high-speed internet network and added new Wi-Fi hot spots.


So far in 2013, 4G LTE has been brought to Charlottesville, Culpeper, Norfolk, the Northern Neck, Petersburg, Portsmouth, Roanoke, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and Sterling.


Since 2010, AT&T has invested nearly $850 million in its Virginia networks.
