NewsUniversity of Virginia Innovation has named Brian A. Pollock its first entrepreneur-in-residence.

As entrepreneur-in-residence, Pollok works with faculty researchers to develop business plans, go-to-market and financing strategies, and other business development materials.

Launched in 2012, U.Va. Innovation helps advance discoveries at U.Va. to the global community.

Pollok is a former Life Technologies Corp. and ATCC executive who joined the U.Va. Innovation team in April. He also is founding CEO of Neoantigenics, a U.Va. spinoff focused on developing targeted cancer therapeutics and diagnostics.

In March, Gov. Bob McDonnell approved a state budget amendment providing $1 million for the creation of a U.Va. economic development accelerator. This funding may be used to support additional entrepreneurs-in-residence and other programmatic improvements “to increase research and promote technology-based business development.”
