The speed limit increased today on the 495 Express Lanes on the Capital Beltway.
The speed limit on the Express Lanes increased to 65 miles per hour from 55 miles per hour after the company and the Virginia Department of Transportation conducted safety studies on the 14-mile dynamic tolling lanes.
The speed limit on the Beltway will remain 55 miles per hour.
The 495 Express Lanes, which run from the Springfield Interchange to just north of Dulles Toll Road, opened in November 2012. Toll prices change with traffic conditions on the lanes.
