Virginia Beach-based real estate developers The Breeden Co. began construction this week on a $70 million waterfront apartment complex in the Fort Norfolk area.

The Lofts at Front Street will include a 258-unit, five-story apartment complex with studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, an internal parking garage and a pedestrian walkway. Leasing will be available in winter 2022, with prices ranging  from $1,230 to $2,390 per month.

The waterfront development will be located along the Elizabeth River at 533 Front St. in Norfolk. 

Breeden Construction will handle all of the construction for the development and Breeden Property Management will manage the development. 

The development will be located within a mile of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Harbor’s Edge, Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the Elizabeth River Trail.
