Virginia coronavirus cases now above 5,000

UPDATE SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 9 A.M.: Virginia’s confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 5,274 on Sunday, up by 197 cases from the previous day. The state now has 141 deaths from coronavirus, including 42 at the Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center nursing home in Henrico County. More than 870 Virginians are hospitalized with the virus. Northern Virginia continues to have the most confirmed cases, with 1,008 cases in Fairfax County, 366 cases in Arlington County,  389 in Prince William County and 309  in Loudoun County. In Central Virginia, there are 379 confirmed cases in Henrico County,  209 in Chesterfield County and 154 in Richmond.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11: 9 A.M.: There are now 5,077 cases of COVID-19 in Virginia, according to the Saturday, April 11 update by the Virginia Department of Health, an increase of 568 cases since Friday, the largest one-day rise since the  coronavirus was first confirmed to have reached the commonwealth. The health department also reports 130 virus-related deaths and 837 hospitalized patients, as well as 37,999 people tested.

Fairfax County continues to have the highest number of positive cases in the state, at 946, followed by Prince William County at 390 and Henrico County, which has 368.
