Eight-one of the students graduating at the University of Virginia this weekend earned their bachelor’s degrees in three years or less.

Fourteen graduates have earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in four years.

These fast-track students will be wearing orange academic stoles as they process down the Lawn on May 19.

The stoles are gifts from President Teresa Sullivan, recognizing the students for their “remarkable accomplishments.”

Sullivan proposed a “3+1” program after arriving at U.Va. in 2010. The program allows students to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees in four years.

In the 2012 graduating class, 61 students finished their bachelor’s degrees in three years or less while 14 graduated with both bachelor’s and master’s diplomas.
