Roanoke College names general counsel

G. Michael Pace Jr.,  the former managing partner of Roanoke-based Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, has been appointed Roanoke College’s first general counsel.

Pace will join the college full time on July 1. He already is an adjunct professor at the Salem-based school.

Pace was managing partner at Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore from 1999 through 2012. He will continue his relationship with the law firm, serving as of counsel.

Pace was president of the Virginia Bar Association in 2008. He is the founder and president of The Center for Teaching the Rule of
Law, which has been located at Roanoke College since last year.

Pace, a Salem resident, is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he served on its board of trustees. He received his law degree from
from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he also is an adjunct professor.
