Reston-based Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) announced Thursday that it has been awarded a $950 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency — a combat support agency of the U.S. Department of Defense that includes more than 26,000 civilian and military personnel.
SAIC will take over supply chain management of paints, preservation and sealing compounds and adhesives for the Federal Supply Group, which classifies supply items in the Federal Cataloging Program.
Because these items require temperature-controlled environments, SAIC will control its demand planning, inventory, distribution, shelf life and direct delivery to more than 5,000 DoD locations.
“We’re looking forward to bringing our expertise and technical solutions, such as our Integrated Logistics Toolkit and hazardous materials management, to bear to help improve service delivery to the Department of Defense,” Jim Scanlon, executive vice president and general manager of SAIC’s Defense Systems Group, said in a statement.
SAIC employs approximately 24,000 people and has pro forma annual revenues of roughly $7.1 billion.
