Another large redevelopment project is coming to Tysons. The Fairfax County Times reports that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has approved a plan for Scotts Run South. It would add 17 office and residential buildings around the McLean Metro station.

Altogether, the plan allows for 6.5 million square feet of new development, including about 1,400 apartments and 3.5 million square feet of office space. The developer is Cityline Partners.

This is the third major project approved by the board since it gave the green light to a new development plan for Tysons Corner back in 2010. It envisions a pedestrian-friendly, urban center that will evolve along with the expansion of the region’s metro system. By 2050, the county expects Tysons to be home to 100,000 people and 200,000 jobs.
