The Norfolk law firm welcomes one new member, three current members.

Norfolk-based law firm Vandeventer Black LLP elected a new executive board member and reelected three current board members, the firm announced Tuesday.
Richard Ottinger, a partner at the firm, was newly elected to the board. He specializes in commercial litigation, transportation and maritime litigation and complex trusts and estates disputes. Ottinger has a bachelor’s degree from Boston University in political science and earned his juris doctorate degree from William & Mary Law School.
Partners Deborah M. Casey, James R. Harvey and Mark S. Brennan were reelected to the board.
Partner Edward J. Powers stepped down from his position on the board.
“We welcome Richard as a new member of the executive board, and we thank Eddie for his years of dedicated service,” Michael L. Sterling, member of the board and fourth-term managing partner, said in a statement.
Vandeventer Black was established in 1883 and has offices in Virginia, North Carolina and Germany.
