The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) in South Boston is recruiting participants for a new manufacturing work readiness program, the organization announced Friday.
The initiative was developed in response to local employer needs and aims to prepare individuals for entry-level manufacturing jobs.
“Members of the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce’s senior executive roundtable shared their concerns and challenges with employee recruitment efforts and told us what they needed in entry-level new hires as well as incumbent workers,” Nettie Simon-Owens, director of Workforce Services at the SVHEC, said in a statement. “We listened to the voice of our employers and are pleased to introduce a replicable training model that reflects best practices and multiple training providers to address employer identified needs.”
Individuals interested in finding out more about the program can attend information sessions at SVHEC’s innovation center that will be held on the following dates:
March 14th from 2-5 p.m.
March 20th from 4-5:30 p.m.
