SAIC announced Monday the names of the two companies after its planned separation later this year.
The $4 billion government technical services and enterprise information technology business will retain the SAIC name. The $7 billion national security, health and engineering business will be named Leidos, derived from the word “kaleidoscope.”
“With the name Leidos, we signal that the company will deliver transforming technologies, analytics and cross-disciplinary insight for our customers to deliver real-world benefits at the speed the real world demands,” said SAIC COO Stu Shea, who will be president and COO of Leidos.
The separation is expected to occur in the later part of this year and is subject to approval by SAIC’s shareholders.
