Armed Forces Reunions Inc. in Norfolk, which plans and manages military events nationwide, has won the U.S. Navy Reserve’s $5 million returning warrior workshop contract.

The workshop program is designed to help reservists readjust to civilian life and cope with feelings of stress, isolation and other psychological disorders and injuries.

AFR began the $5 million contract in January and will manage hotel accommodations, food and beverage, transportation and conference services for 19 workshops in 17 cities, with an option to continue the contract into 2014. This is the second time AFR has won the bid.

AFR is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Ted and Molly Dey in downtown Norfolk, with additional staff at locations across the country.

The program’s workshops and classes provide reservists with counseling on employment, for relationship issues with spouses and assist with redeployment and transfers.
