In the Lead: Best Legacy Businesses is a special section (online and print) from Virginia Business recognizing outstanding legacy businesses based in Virginia. Winning companies will be featured in the May 2025 issue of Virginia Business magazine and online. To be eligible for consideration as one of the Best Legacy Businesses in Virginia, a company must:

  • Can demonstrate success through growth in revenue or employees.
  • Recognized as a best workplace because of employee support programs.
  • Can show a high level of employee morale.
  • Is able to demonstrate strong and consistent community engagement.
Winning businesses will demonstrate business success through growth in revenue or employees, and demonstrate community engagement. Mentoring and leadership opportunities for female employees, high employee morale and employee support programs are also areas that will be considered. Deadline for submission is September 26, 2025. Information provided on this form may be used by Virginia Business Magazine in the corresponding publication.
