Richmond-based Markel-Eagle Advisors has purchased about 75 acres of land along West Broad Street in Henrico County for $8.5 million. Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer said Thursday that the company bought two parcels from the Nuckols Farm land assemblage from the Oscar N. Nuckols Family Trust (68.9 acres) and 5.8 acres from Sheila and Hugh Worcester.

The assemblage ― one of the few remaining available large blocks of property in western Henrico ― is located near Route 288 at the intersection of West Broad Street and the new Gayton Road extension.  According to Thalhimer, Markel-Eagle plans to rezone the site to a mixed use development to include office, retail and residential housing.  Thalhimer’s Mark Douglas handled the sale negotiations.

Markel/Eagle already has made a major investment in the Short Pump corridor.  It took over the unfinished West Board Village in late 2009 and invested more than $8 million, allowing the project to continue and build out.
