Charlottesville-based Atlantic Research Group (ARG) has acquired London-based CCA Clinical Research (CCA).

ARG said in a newsrelease it will expand its workforce to about 100 employees as a result of the acquisition. Executives are identifying talent to serve a larger and more diverse client base in Boston; Philadelphia; San Francisco; Raleigh, N.C.; Western Europe; the Middle East and Asia.

ARG said the deal will strengthen the company’s reach and experience in the management of clinical trials. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ARG is a rare disease, oncology and immunology-focused contract research organization founded in 2004. CCA was founded in 1998 and has a network of clinical research experts across Europe. CCA has been a strategic partner with ARG since 2007.

The combination of the two companies creates a comprehensive, global, clinical trial management solution for small to mid-sized biotech companies, ARG said.
