PeachMac, one of Apple’s largest U.S. retailers, will open its first Virginia store at Barracks Road Shopping Center in Charlottesville this spring.

The 2,800-square-foot store will offer a complete line of Macintosh computers, iPads and iPods as well as software, supporting hardware, and accessories. PeachMac also is an Apple authorized service provider, and will provide onsite service for consumers and local businesses.

“I am thrilled to be opening in Charlottesville, particularly since my wife is a UVA alumni. Charlottesville has always been one of our favorite places, and we can’t wait to open this spring,” Darryl Peck, president ofPeachMac, said in a statement.

The opening will be the 12th store for PeachMac, which has other stores in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
PeachMac offers the largest selection of third-party, Apple-related products in the market, with more than 1,500 items available.  The stores also are authorized to handle warranty and out-of-warranty repairs on Apple products.

Deirdre Johnson, senior director, asset management at Federal Realty Investment Trust ―  which owns the Barracks Road center ― noted that “users of Apple products will no longer need to drive to Richmond for their retail and servicing needs, thereby fulfilling an important merchandise void in the market. We are excited to welcome PeachMac to the Barracks Road community of retailers and restaurants and honored that they chose Barracks Road as their entry point to the state of Virginia.”

Barracks Road Shopping Center is a 500,000-square-foot center located at the corner of Barracks Road and Emmett Street. It offers a mix of national retailers, two regional grocers and locally
owned stores and restaurants.
