Richmond-based PartnerMD plans to open an office in South Carolina, its first outside of Virginia, on Jan. 7.
The membership medical practice will launch its South Carolina practice in Greenville under the direction of Dr. Jack C. Durham, a family-practice physician who has worked in the area for more than 30 years. He is the 13th doctor to join PartnerMD.
“We have extensively researched Greenville, and we are excited about opening a practice there. It’s a vibrant city with a great mix of families, professionals and corporate headquarters. We plan to branch out to other nearby cities in the future,” Linda Nash, the CEO and founder of PartnerMD, said in a statement.
In addition to South Carolina, the company has plans to expand to Maryland and North Carolina.
PartnerMD members receive 24/7 access to a physicians, personal health portfolios detailing results of annual physicals and amenities not offered by traditional primary-care practices.
PartnerMD is, a subsidiary of Richmond-based Markel Ventures. It serves more than 4,600 members in Richmond, Midlothian, McLean and Lansdowne.
James Mumper, the firm’s chief medical officer, said the 10-year-old firm has a 95 percent patient retention rate.
