Richmond-based MEDARVA Healthcare, the parent company of Stony Point Surgery Center, has opened its second ambulatory surgery center.
The 6,600-square-foot MEDARVA West Creek Surgery Center is located in the West Creek Medical Park in Goochland County. The facility has two operating rooms. Outpatient procedures performed there may include: eye, cataract, ENT, gastro, facial and plastic surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and colonoscopies.
The second phase of the facility is scheduled to open before the end of the year. It will include four procedure rooms with 19,000 square feet. When completed, MEDARVA’s West Creek Surgery Center will consist of 25,000 square feet.
“Due to Virginia’s COPN (Certificate of Public Need) process, this surgery center was delayed for more than two years, but it has now become a reality,” Bruce Kupper, president and CEO of MEDARVA Healthcare, said in a statement. “The patient need for what we offer is greater today than when we first applied for approval to build the surgery center.”
The surgery center has been accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services making it eligible to serve Medicare and Medicaid patients.
MEDARVA Healthcare incudes the MEDARVA Foundation, which supports numerous medical care and education programs in Richmond and central Virginia; MEDARVA Stony Point Surgery Center, MEDARVA West Creek Surgery Center, MEDARVA Physician Network, and the MEDARVA Medical Office Building.
