A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday for the new Puller Veterans Care Center in Fauquier County. The 128-bed facility will be completed in 2020.

The long-term care and rehabilitation center will be built on 30 acres located on the former Vint Hill Farms Station, which previously served as a U.S. Army and National Security Agency facility.

The new center is named after Gen. Lewis B.“Chesty” Puller, Lt. Lewis B. Puller Jr. and his wife, former state Sen. Linda “Toddy” Puller.

The Puller Veterans Care Center will be one of four veterans care centers in Virginia. A groundbreaking is scheduled Nov.1 for the new Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center in Virginia Beach. These new facilities join Virginia Department of Veterans Services’ veteran care centers in Roanoke and Richmond.
