Common Ground, Orange County’s first co-working space, has opened at the Twins of Germanna Office Park off Route 3.
The developer was Mansour Azimipour who worked with the county’s Office of Economic Development on the project.
Common Ground occupies space in a building at 4444 Germanna Highway that Azimipour owns. The space houses 12 desks, a conference room and one private office. It offers 24/7 access, Wi-Fi connectivity, printer services and refreshments.
The idea behind the co-working space is to provide space for small-business owners, freelancers and others in an open-office environment. Users pay a monthly membership fee that ranges from $150 to $300, which ranges from general membership to a personal office.
“Historically co-working space in larger markets attracts high-tech millennials,” Orange County’s Economic Development Director Tommy Miller said in a statement. “The goal with Mr. Azimipour’s co-working space is to reach those same creative folks but expand the opportunity of membership to all interested individuals, including our home-based business community looking for an inexpensive second office with reliable internet as well as the recent retiree who’s been toying with the idea to create a new widget.”
