Pacific Life Foundation makes initial grants in Lynchburg-area nonprofits
It is expected to award $100,000 during 2017.
The Pacific Life Foundation expects to award $100,000 to nonprofits in the Lynchburg area during 2017.
The foundation already has awarded $65,000 to seven nonprofits since the beginning of the year.
The foundation’s mission is to support communities where California-based Pacific Life Insurance Co. employees work and live.
The company recently established operations in Lynchburg after buying a technology platform of term-life business from Henrico County-based Genworth Financial.
The company expects to invest $4 million and hire 300 employees in Lynchburg during the next two years.
The seven nonprofits receiving initial grants in the Lynchburg area include:
Academy Center of the Arts: $15,000
Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter: $10,000
Amazement Square: $10,000
American Red Cross of Blue Ridge: $10,000
Iron Lives Inc.: $5,000
Miriam’s House: $5,000
United Way of Central Virginia: $10,000
Founded in 1984, Pacific Life Foundation expects to make a total of $6.25 million in grants to nonprofits nationwide this year.
