“Permanent,”  a movie starring Patricia Arquette and Rainn Wilson, will be filmed in Central Virginia beginning next month.

The film is a comedy set in the early 1980s. The screenplay written by University of Virginia graduate Colette Burson concerns a girl coming of age in a small town. She also will direct the film.

Burson is the co-creator/executive producer of the HBO television series “Hung.”  She also has written original television screenplays for Showtime, FX, NBC and Canal+.  She based “Permanent” on an incident that occurred when she attended E.B. Stanley Middle School in Abingdon.

The film is set to star Patricia Arquette, who won an Academy Award last year for her performance in “Boyhood,” and Rainn Wilson, best-known for his Emmy Award-nominated role as Dwight Schrute in the television show “The Office”).

2929 Productions is partnering with Park Pictures and Washington Square films to make the film.

“Permanent” will begin filming in early August in Central Virginia.  It is eligible to receive a Virginia film tax credit and grant.  The exact amount is based on the number of Virginia workers hired, Virginia goods and services purchased, and deliverables, including Virginia tourism promotions.
