A new Walmart supercenter is coming to eastern Henrico County.  In keeping with plans announced more than a year ago, Walmart has purchased 18 acres of land for $4.95 million at the site of the former Fairfield Commons Mall situated along Nine Mile Road and Laburnum Avenue.

Walmart had said earlier that it planned to locate a store that will serve as the anchor tenant in a new shopping center at the site.  Arizona-based Bromont Developments LLC owns the property and began demolishing the old mall this past summer to make way for a new center called Eastgate Town Center.

Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer represented Walmart in the purchase from seller Future Family LLP.

Lee Warfield and Pete Waldbauer of Thalhimer’s Richmond office handled the sale negotiations on behalf of Walmart.
