During the first three months of the year, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority worked with 27 companies that announced plans to create 1,400 jobs in the county.
Most of these businesses are in the information technology and professional services sectors. Seven are foreign-based firms using a Fairfax County location to expand in North America.
One of announcement came from Tysons Corner-based FrontPoint Security Solutions, a provider of interactive wireless home security systems. It is adding 179 jobs.
In addition, Salient Federal Solutions, a provider of information technology and engineering services to government and commercial customers is adding 530 jobs.
Strategic Operational Solutions, an information technology and management consulting firm, is creating 70 jobs.
In addition to its headquarters in Tysons Corner, the economic development authority has offices in Boston and Los Angeles and four foreign cities: Bangalore, Munich, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
