Genworth dropped off the Fortune 500 in 2025, slipping to No. 507. The insurer posted 2024 revenue of about $7.3 billion, down about 2.58% from 2023. Even so, McInerney, who has led Genworth since 2013, says he’s “very proud of the progress we’ve made and the momentum we’re building.”
In 2023, the company launched the CareScout Quality Network, a network of 500 long-term care providers. In October 2025, CareScout launched its first insurance product that covers nursing homes, home health care and hospice care, among other services.
McInerney previously held executive roles with the ING Group, a Dutch financial services company. He earned degrees from Colgate University and Dartmouth College and sits on several boards, including Virginia Learns and as vice chair of United Way Worldwide.
In December 2025, McInerney wrote an op-ed for Fortune, saying that the nation’s long-term care system is in crisis and advocating for bipartisan proposals at both the state and federal levels to care for aging baby boomers and future generations.
