At the start of the year, McPherson succeeded George Holm as CEO of the Fortune Global 500 food supplier, with Holm transitioning to executive chair of PFG’s board. McPherson previously held executive roles at PFG subsidiary Core-Mark, including president and CEO, and in 2024 became PFG’s chief field operations officer, overseeing Core-Mark, Performance Foodservice and Vistar. In January 2025, he was named president and chief operating officer of PFG.
A graduate of the University of Portland’s MBA program, McPherson is known for his expertise in supply chain management and divisional operations.
PFG, which went public in 2015, has about 43,000 employees and more than 150 locations. In November 2025, the company announced it was terminating talks on a proposed merger with US Foods, which would have created the nation’s largest food service distributor with about $100 billion in combined revenue. PFG’s net sales in fiscal 2025 grew 8.6% to $63.3 billion compared with fiscal 2024.
