Number of years with firm: 15 (2006-2011, 2015-present)
Law school: UVA Law (2002)
Legal leadership: I serve on the Virginia State Bar, Health Lawyers Section, Board of Governors, 2022-present. I am a member of American Health Lawyers Association, Virginia Bar Association, and Health Care Compliance Association. I have been Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) since 2010.
Pro bono work/community or civil involvement: I serve on the Personnel Committee at River Oak Church and volunteer in children’s ministry.
Awards/accolades: “Legal Elite” in Health Law, Virginia Business, 2020-2024; “Top Lawyers,” Health Care Law, CoVa BIZ, 2024-2025
On my identity/background: Having grown up in Tidewater and witnessed the positive impact of CHKD in the lives of friends and family in our community, including my own family, I am proud to work at CHKD. I am fortunate personally to have the opportunity to professionally and meaningfully contribute to the good work of an organization whose mission I wholeheartedly believe in: Health, Healing, and Hope to All Children.
Most pressing issue that IHCs face: Healthcare is a highly regulated industry that is facing financial pressures on multiple fronts. Staying current on changing laws and regulations, optimizing business opportunities, and doing more with less while threats of funding cuts loom on the horizon are always a challenge.
Evolution of the IHC position: Supporting healthcare leadership during and following the COVID-19 pandemic has required adaptability and partnership as we optimize service delivery in creative ways that promote high quality services and long-term financial sustainability.
